The aim of the Hashpaedia is to bring
together our knowledge of hashing in one place, where it will be
freely available to the hash community.
The version that went on line in
spring 2009
contains about 600
entries and in 8 depth reports
However it is
only a first draft and no doubt contains many mistakes and
omissions.
Some of the entries are also little more than an
introduction.
It is hoped that the hash community will come
forward with offers of articles, information and photographs to
build upon this 'first draft'..

The Hashpaedia, by its encyclopaedic nature,
draws information from already published sources, these included
books, hash newsletters and websites. The text however is
original, the exceptions being direct quotes which are marked in
italics.
It has also used oral history (ie I have chatted
with fellow hashers over beers) and a good part of the
information included in the Hashpaedia has not been previously
recorded.
Wherever possible I have used illustrations
from my own collection, the exception being hash badges which I
hope no kennel will object to being used for this purpose.
While I am responsible for any mistakes,
please note that any and all derogatory remarks made about
various hashers have in all cases come from a
hasher who considers you a friend and are intended in the hash
spirit! Anything you really object to will happily be
removed.
Many hashers have already contributed in some
way but I owe particular thanks to Pizza Piss for his
early encouragement and in making his hash library open to me in
lonely evenings in Kuwait,
to Whorator for editorial additions
and amazing job of proof reading to Go Kart
for technical support in Turkey and Simply Blond and
family for technical support in Stockholm.
From here
I would like to retain editorship of the
hashpaedia for the next
12 months to oversee the development of this
first draft into, hopefully, a work the hash community has
contributed to. After that I visualize passing it over to the
hash community, perhaps to be hosted by one of the already
established websites and edited by a small team of volunteers.
However that presumes you hashers are not to
busy drinking beers and laying trails to take a look at it.
